We are delighted to welcome you to the Canatxx Preesall website. We believe we can make a significant difference to the UK's gas storage infrastructure by undertaking the development of an underground gas storage facility at Preesall.

Preesall is an exceptional place with a rich industrial history. Underground exploration first took place in the nineteenth century with the Royal Engineers then stationed at Fleetwood. Subsequent salt extraction and its associated industries have continued for over 100 years.

The salt extracted at Preesall enabled local industries that supported tens of thousands of people over many generations. We hope Preesall will now play an important role in protecting our energy needs for generations to come.

Canatxx personnel have wide experience of underground gas storage and related facilities and view safety as a number one priority along with preserving the ecology of the local environment.

This website will answer many of the questions you might have on the Preesall underground gas storage project. We have provided information about the project, including all documentation submitted to Lancashire County Council on a microsite - click for the full application. You will also find on this website supporting documentation from the Health and Safety Executive, the British Geological Society, independent experts and relevant UK government departments. We will continually update the website with news and relevant events.
